Paying for an HGV course monthly is normal, and there is more than one way to do it. Here is how pay monthly HGV training actually works in the UK, what each route asks of you, and how to pick.
The two monthly routes
1. 0% in-house payment plan
- Agreement directly with HGV Academy - no lender involved.
- No interest and no credit check.
- First payment (£800 as standard, reducible on request) starts your forms, medical, theory tests and theory kit.
- Equal monthly payments after that, and you choose the number of months when you apply.
- Lessons, tests and CPC Module 4 are booked once the final payment clears.
2. Monthly credit finance
- Applied for through Ideal4Finance, a credit broker with a panel of lenders.
- No deposit normally required; terms typically 12 to 60 months.
- Credit check required, subject to status, interest applies at the lender's rate.
- The course is funded up front, so all training and test dates can be booked immediately.
How to work out your monthly amount
Start with your course quote, because the monthly figure is simply the amount you are spreading divided by the months you choose (plus interest on the credit route). Build your quote first, then the in-house application shows you the exact monthly figure before you commit to anything.
Work out your monthly plan
Build a quote, choose a first payment and the number of months, and see the monthly amount before you apply.
Speed versus flexibility
If you need a licence fast, credit finance is normally quicker because everything can be booked once the lender funds the course. If you would rather avoid interest and credit searches, the 0% plan is the better fit - just allow around 2 to 4 weeks after the final payment to confirm your dates for CPC Module 3a, 3b and Module 4.
Frequently asked questions
Can I pay for HGV training monthly?
Yes. HGV Academy offers a 0% in-house monthly payment plan with no credit check, and monthly finance through a regulated credit broker where a lender pays for the course up front.
How many months can I spread HGV training over?
Credit finance terms typically run from 12 to 60 months. The 0% in-house plan is agreed with us directly and you choose the number of months when you apply online.
Do monthly payment plans cost more overall?
The 0% in-house plan costs no more than the course price. Credit finance is interest-bearing, so the total repaid depends on the rate and term the lender offers you.
What happens if I miss a payment?
On the in-house plan, late payments may incur the fee stated in your signed agreement and can pause training until the account is up to date. On credit finance, missed payments can lead to financial difficulty and harm your credit score.
Ideal Sales Solutions Ltd t/a Ideal4Finance is a credit broker and not a lender (FRN 703401). Finance is subject to status.
